Which oils are best for supporting nervous system regulation?

Essential oils have been used traditionally for their benefits on the nervous system. Some essential oils are believed to help with nervous system regulation by promoting relaxation, reducing anxiety, and improving mood. Try them in connection with your yoga practice and see what happens…

  4. Bergamot:

    • Has uplifting and mood-enhancing properties.

    • Can help reduce stress and improve mood.

    • Often used in aromatherapy blends for relaxation and emotional balance.

  5. Ylang Ylang:

    • Known for its ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress.

    • Can help lower blood pressure and heart rate.

  6. Clary Sage:

How to Use Essential Oils for Nervous System Regulation

  1. Diffusion:

    • Use a diffuser to disperse the essential oil into the air.

    • This method allows you to inhale the oils and benefit from their calming effects.

  2. Topical Application:

    • Dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil (like coconut or jojoba oil) and apply to the skin.

    • Common areas for application include the wrists, neck, and bottoms of the feet.

  3. Bath:

    • Add a few drops of essential oil to a warm bath, add epsom salts if you have them.

    • The combination of warm water and essential oils can be very relaxing.

  4. Inhalation:

    • Inhale the aroma directly from the bottle or from the palm of your hand with a few drops of oil.

    • This can provide immediate calming effects.

  5. Massage:

    • Use diluted essential oils for a relaxing massage. I love fractionated coconut oil for dilution.

    • This can help reduce muscle tension and promote relaxation.
